It's a bold statement, but I'm going to say it: the original ending of Parallel, the 2018 Canadian science fiction thriller film, left me wanting more. Don't get me wrong, the movie was gripping and had me on the edge of my seat, but there was a lingering feeling of dissatisfaction as the credits rolled.
That's why I took it upon myself to craft an alternative ending that I believe adds a whole new layer of depth and intrigue to the story.
In this article, aptly titled Parallel movie / Alternative ending, I will share with you my version of how the film should have concluded.
Brace yourselves, because things are about to take a mind-bending turn.

The new ending
As the final act of Parallel unfolds, the characters find themselves trapped in a never-ending loop, endlessly repeating their actions and unable to escape their fate. However, a new twist is introduced that shatters the established reality.
Just as the characters are about to resign themselves to their eternal repetition, they stumble upon a hidden room within the parallel universe. Inside, they discover a mysterious device that allows them to manipulate time and space.
With newfound hope, they realize that they have the power to break free from their cyclical existence.
As they experiment with the device, they uncover a shocking truth β their parallel universe is not the only one. There are countless other parallel universes, each with its own set of characters trapped in their own loops.
The device grants them the ability to travel between these universes, offering a chance to not only escape their own predicament but also help others break free.
Driven by a newfound purpose, the characters embark on a daring mission to liberate as many parallel universes as possible. They become a team of interdimensional heroes, navigating through different realities, freeing trapped souls, and challenging the very fabric of existence.
However, as they delve deeper into their mission, they begin to question the nature of their own reality. They realize that their actions have consequences, not just for themselves but for the entire multiverse.
Each time they save a universe, they alter the course of events, creating ripples that affect countless lives.
This thought-provoking element raises profound questions about the nature of choice, destiny, and the interconnectedness of all things. Are they truly heroes, or are they unwittingly playing with the lives of others? Is it their responsibility to save every universe, or should they let each reality find its own path?
As the characters grapple with these moral dilemmas, they face their greatest challenge yet β a parallel universe where the device has fallen into the wrong hands. This universe is ruled by a power-hungry dictator who seeks to control all other realities, using the device to manipulate and exploit them.
In a climactic battle, the characters must confront their own fears and make the ultimate sacrifice. They destroy the device, ensuring that it can never be used for nefarious purposes again. In doing so, they sever their connection to the parallel universes, leaving behind a legacy of hope and freedom.
